Chaitra Navratri, also known as Vasanta Navratri, is a revered nine-day Hindu festival that marks the beginning of the Hindu Luni-Solar calendar month of Chaitra. During this period, devotees worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga, collectively known as Navadurga.
Each day of the festival is dedicated to a different avatar of Durga, culminating on the ninth day with Ram Navami, a celebration of Lord Rama’s birth. In 2024, Chaitra Navratri will be observed from April 9 to April 17, with Ram Navami falling on the last day.
Throughout the nine days, devotees worship Maa Durga’s various incarnations, including Maa Shailputri, Maa Brahmacharini, Maa Chandraghanta, Maa Kushmanda, Skanda Mata, Maa Katyayani, Maa Kaalratri, Maa Mahagauri, and Maa Siddhidatri. It is believed that worshipping these forms brings prosperity, happiness, and good fortune to devotees.
