Satellite Struggles: A Crisis for Pan-Indian Films!

Date:

The emergence of OTT platforms has significantly transformed the landscape of feature films. In particular, the satellite market is facing a major downturn, as films are often broadcast after their digital premieres.

Even high-budget pan-Indian films are struggling to attract viewership due to their early availability on streaming services. For instance, Jr. NTR’s Devara: Part One and Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD have both encountered difficulties securing satellite platforms.

This trend is especially pronounced for flop movies that receive early OTT releases, which not only diminish theatrical attendance but also result in poor TRP ratings on television. Consequently, this has become a leading factor in many big-budget films being shelved despite being officially announced.
