Ajith Kumar’s Vidaamuyarchi kicked off with a record-breaking opening, marking the highest in his career. However, after the initial surge, the film witnessed an average hold over the weekend. A combination of factors, including mixed word-of-mouth, the genre, and the release timing, impacted its overall momentum.
Vidaamuyarchi 1st Weekend Worldwide Box Office Collection
In Tamil Nadu, Vidaamuyarchi managed to rake in approximately ₹64-65 crore over the first three days. The film’s All-India Gross stood at ₹78 crore, while its Overseas Gross was around ₹37 crore. This brings the worldwide total to ₹115 crore by the end of its first weekend.
While the numbers are decent, the film still has a long way to go, needing to collect over ₹100 crore more to reach profitability. Given the current trend, Vidaamuyarchi might struggle to cross even ₹175 crore unless it sustains strong footfalls in the coming days.
Directed by Magizh Thirumeni, the action-thriller stars Ajith Kumar, Trisha, Arjun, and Regina Cassandra in key roles. The film, released on February 6, 2025, is an official remake of the 1997 Hollywood thriller Breakdown.
