Bellamkonda Sreenivas Admits: ‘I Shouldn’t Have Remade Chatrapathi in Hindi

Date:

Bellamkonda Sreenivas is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Bhairavam, directed by Vijay Kanakamedala. The movie also features Nara Rohit and Manchu Manoj in key roles. As part of the promotional run, Sreenivas opened up about his experience remaking the iconic Chatrapathi for the Hindi audience.

Speaking candidly, the actor said, “Among the current generation of Telugu actors, only Rana and Ram Charan have ventured into Bollywood. I felt Charan’s Zanjeer didn’t click because it was a remake of a Hindi original. But my producer, Jayantilal Gada Garu, believed that themes like mother-son emotion and stepbrother conflict always resonate in the Hindi belt. I assumed that many in the North might not have watched the original Chatrapathi.”

He continued, “I genuinely believed that Rajamouli Garu’s emotionally strong storyline would strike a chord with Hindi audiences. However, the COVID era changed content consumption patterns drastically. During the shoot, I found myself in a dilemma and couldn’t give my full effort. Looking back, I feel I shouldn’t have attempted to remake such an iconic film.”
