Ashutosh Gowariker’s son, Konark Gowariker, recently hosted a grand wedding reception, which turned into a star-studded affair with Bollywood’s biggest names in attendance. However, the biggest highlight of the evening was the much-anticipated reunion of the Lagaan cast and crew.
Among those present were Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Aaditya Lakhia, along with the film’s lead actress, Gracy Singh. Their presence brought back nostalgic memories of the iconic film, making the evening even more special.
Reena Dutta’s Absence Noticed
One notable absence from the gathering was Aamir Khan’s first wife, Reena Dutta, who played a crucial role in Lagaan’s production. She co-produced the film alongside Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker and was credited as the Executive Producer. Reena has always shared a close bond with Gowariker, making her absence at the event surprising to many.
Interestingly, during the 20th anniversary of Lagaan, Aamir had spoken fondly about Reena’s contribution to the film, recalling how she stepped into production despite having no prior experience in filmmaking. He had shared, “Reena had no knowledge of filmmaking, yet she handled the film’s production so efficiently. When I told her I needed her help, she supported me wholeheartedly.”
Bollywood Celebrities Grace the Celebration
The wedding reception also saw the presence of several renowned celebrities, including veteran actress Shabana Azmi, lyricist Javed Akhtar, Vidya Balan, Pooja Hegde, Sonali Bendre, Genelia D’Souza, and Riteish Deshmukh.
Konark Gowariker tied the knot with Niyati Kanakia, the daughter of real estate tycoon Rasesh Kanakia, on March 2 in Mumbai. The wedding festivities were nothing short of grand, with Bollywood’s finest coming together to celebrate the joyous occasion.
