In a recent interview, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga revealed that he made the blockbuster film Animal exclusively for Ranbir Kapoor. He praised Ranbir’s intense acting, dedication, and ability to completely transform into the character.
The film, which shattered box office records, has grossed over ₹900 crore worldwide. Fans and critics alike have agreed that Ranbir was the perfect choice for the lead role.
Ranbir Was Always the First Choice
Speaking about the casting process, Sandeep Reddy Vanga clarified that he never considered any other actor for the role. Right from the beginning, he envisioned Ranbir as the hero and tailored the script specifically for him.
He further explained that every scene in Animal was written with Ranbir Kapoor in mind. Watching Ranbir’s previous performances, his aggression and intensity deeply impressed Sandeep, making him the ideal actor for the role.
A Transformation from Romantic Hero to Action Star
Ranbir Kapoor has been known for his romantic and emotional roles, but Animal allowed him to showcase a completely different side of his acting abilities. Sandeep Reddy Vanga emphasized how the actor delivered a raw and powerful performance, breaking away from his usual image.
When asked whether Ranbir would always be his first choice, the director didn’t hesitate to confirm that he was indeed the only actor he ever considered for Animal.
Ranbir Was Involved from the Beginning
Before writing the complete script, Sandeep Reddy Vanga first shared the film’s concept with Ranbir Kapoor online. After Ranbir showed interest and excitement about the story, the director went ahead and developed the full script, keeping him in mind for every scene.
In a previous interview, Sandeep acknowledged that while Animal received some criticism from certain sections of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor’s performance was universally praised.
