Date:

The vibrant Batukamma celebrations have already reached the seventh day. The festivities included Engilipuvvu Batukamma, Atukula Batukamma, Muddapappu Batukamma, Nanabiyyam Batukamma, Attla Batukamma, Aligina Batukamma, and Vepakayala Batukamma, each with its unique charm. Batukamma is a festival cherished by the women of Telangana and is a reflection of the state’s rich cultural heritage. For nine days, the streets of Telangana come alive with joy and celebration.

The festival, which began on September 28 this year, will continue until October 6. The grand celebrations, which commenced with Engilipuvvu Batukamma on the first day, will culminate with Saddula Batukamma on the ninth day.

The eighth day of the Batukamma festival is known as ‘Vennamuddala Batukamma.’ On this day, flowers like Tangedu, Gunugu, Chamanthi, Gulabi, and Gaddi flowers are beautifully arranged in eight layers to form the Batukamma. The women gather near the Anjaneyaswamy Temple, performing songs and dances around Batukamma, and later immerse it in the lake. As part of the offerings, sesame seeds and jaggery are prepared as a sacred prasadam for the devotees.
