Choreographer Sheik Jani Basha, widely known as Jani Master, was granted bail on October 24 by the Telangana High Court following his arrest on September 19. A 21-year-old colleague had accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was a minor, leading to serious charges under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. After returning home, Jani posted an emotional video capturing his reunion with his family, but the internet response was divided.
The 2-minute-15-second video, set to Papa Meri Jaan from the movie Animal, shows Jani’s children rushing to embrace him at the door, while his wife, Ayesha, watches with a smile. As his children cry, Jani consoles them and takes a moment to look at the handmade cards they created. Overwhelmed, he hugs Ayesha, who also comforts him. Jani shared the video on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, adding a heartfelt caption: “A lot is taken away from us in these 37 days. My family & well-wishers’ prayers got me here today. While some supporters, like choreographers Aata Sandeep and Anee, left heartfelt comments under the video, responses on social media were mixed. Supporters expressed loyalty, saying, “All is well master, we are always with you,” while others criticized Jani’s public approach. One user commented, “You didn’t go to jail for social service; you went for allegations of serious charges,” while another remarked on the choice of background music, questioning its appropriateness.
What Happened: The allegations involve an accusation of sexual misconduct against Jani Master during outdoor shoots, with charges filed under POCSO due to the accuser’s reported age at the time. Following the accusations, Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena Party advised him to avoid party events, and a National Award he was set to receive was revoked amidst the controversy.
