Popular comedian Prudhvi Raj has found himself at the center of a heated controversy following his “11 goats” remark at the pre-release event of Vishwak Sen’s upcoming film Laila. His statement didn’t sit well with fans of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, leading to an online uproar and calls for a boycott of the film.
As the situation escalated, Prudhvi was reportedly admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad due to high blood pressure. Addressing the backlash during a media interaction, he clarified that his statement was never intended to target any political party or individual.
“I never meant to offend anyone. If people choose to misinterpret my comment, I can’t help it. I’ve been facing intense trolling and receiving hundreds of calls from unknown numbers claiming to be YSRCP supporters. It’s absurd to call for a boycott of a film over this. Mark my words—Laila will be a massive blockbuster,” Prudhvi stated.
Despite the controversy, Laila remains on track for its theatrical release on February 14, 2025, as a special Valentine’s Day treat. The film stars Akanksha Sharma as the female lead, with Ram Narayan directing and Sahu Garapati producing.
