Devara: Part 1, featuring Jr NTR, Janhvi Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan, hit theaters on September 27 and performed moderately at the box office. The film received praise for its impressive grandeur, visual effects, and overall treatment. However, despite an impressive opening of approximately ₹74 crore across all languages, the film struggled to maintain the same momentum, with its total earnings currently standing at ₹343 crore.
Fans of Devara can soon enjoy the film from the comfort of their homes, as it is set to premiere on Netflix starting November 8, 2024. The streaming platform has acquired the digital rights for all languages, ensuring availability in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
This film marked Jr NTR’s first solo release after the blockbuster RRR, where he shared the screen with Ram Charan. While Devara features a strong ensemble cast, including Saif Ali Khan, it serves as a significant project for Jr NTR as a leading man in a solo-hero capacity.
Addressing the film’s performance, Jr NTR expressed his views on audience expectations, stating, “We, as an audience, have become very negative these days. We are not able to enjoy a film in an innocent manner anymore. I wonder why we are not able to be that innocent anymore? Every film today, we are watching it to analyze. We are all constantly judging, analyzing, and overthinking about films. Maybe our exposure to cinema has made us like this.”
Looking ahead, Jr NTR is set to make his Bollywood debut in WAR 2, co-starring Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani, further expanding his cinematic footprint.
