A legal battle has erupted between Dhanush and Nayanthara over the usage of behind-the-scenes footage from their film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan. The dispute arose when Nayanthara included three clips from the movie in her Netflix wedding documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. Despite her request, Dhanush, the film’s producer, had denied permission for the footage to be used.
Dhanush has now filed a petition in the Madras High Court against Nayanthara, her husband Vignesh Shivan, and Netflix, claiming the footage is part of the film’s intellectual property. Nayanthara, however, argued that the clips in question were filmed on a personal mobile phone and do not belong to the film’s assets. Dhanush maintains that even such content forms a part of the film’s production and should not be used without authorization.
The case took another twist as reports surfaced that Dhanush demanded ₹10 crores in compensation for the unapproved use of the footage. Nayanthara revealed that Dhanush had previously refused to provide a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for the same.
Amid this heated dispute, an image of Dhanush and Nayanthara sitting next to each other at a recent wedding in Chennai went viral, adding an intriguing layer to the ongoing saga. The court’s decision on this complex issue is now highly anticipated.
