Dil Raju Breaks Silence on Fake Box Office Posters and Industry Practices

Date:

Tollywood producer Dil Raju, who recently faced Income Tax (IT) raids over a span of four days, addressed the situation in a press meet, clarifying that all his financial dealings are clean. However, he emphasized the need for the film industry to regulate the publicization of exaggerated revenue figures.

The controversy gained traction after the release of his film Game Changer. The team faced heavy criticism for allegedly inflating box office numbers on promotional posters, with claims that the figures were over 100% higher than the actual revenue. This sparked speculation that the inflated numbers might have triggered the IT raids. Dil Raju dismissed these rumors, attributing the practice to a long-standing trend followed by many producers in the industry.

Interestingly, while Dil Raju acknowledged the issue, he stopped short of taking a firm stance against the practice. Critics argue that exaggerated figures not only mislead audiences but also invite trolling and ridicule on social media, as witnessed in the case of Game Changer. Many feel that unless this “tradition” is curbed, such incidents will continue to tarnish the credibility of Tollywood’s producers.
