The Election Commission of India has officially reserved the ‘Glass Tumbler’ symbol for the Pawan Kalyan-led Janasena Party. This decision, confirmed by the Election Commission on Tuesday, ensures that the symbol will exclusively represent the Janasena Party in the upcoming general elections, preventing its allocation to other independent candidates.
With this formal recognition, the Janasena Party is now officially a registered political entity, marking over a decade since its formation. Notably, in May of the previous year, ahead of the general election, the Election Commission had instructed Returning Officers (ROs) to freeze the ‘Glass Tumbler’ symbol in all constituencies where Janasena had previously contested. This action was taken after the party filed a petition in the High Court.
In the historic 2024 general election, the Janasena Party secured a significant victory, clinching all 21 assembly seats and 2 parliamentary seats it contested. Following this success, Pawan Kalyan was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Andhra Pradesh in the alliance government.
