Following a disappointing defeat in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh general election, actor-turned-politician Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena party and its supporters had high hopes for redemption in the upcoming election. In a bid to strengthen their position, Pawan formed an alliance with the main opposition party, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), led by Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
Amidst much anticipation, the long-awaited candidate announcement took place today, leaving Pawan Kalyan’s supporters disheartened. The seat sharing agreement unveiled a stark reality – TDP securing a significant share with 94 MLA and 22 MP seats, while Janasena settled for merely 5 MLA and 3 MP seats out of the total 118 and 25, respectively.
The decision to accept just 24 MLA and 3 MP seats, reportedly in exchange for BJP’s alliance, has left fans dismayed, especially considering Pawan’s earlier indication of a potential larger role for Janasena in the alliance. Pawan Kalyan’s expression of regret over the missed opportunity to negotiate a higher seat share has only added to the disappointment.
Disgruntled supporters, who had envisioned Pawan Kalyan as a potential Chief Ministerial candidate, are expressing their frustration on social media platforms, unable to come to terms with the perceived mistreatment of Janasena within the alliance.
