After reigning over Tollywood for more than 15 years, actress Samantha has now stepped into a new role—producer. She launched her own production banner, Tralala Moving Pictures, and debuted as a producer with the recently released Telugu horror-comedy Subham.
Despite being made on a modest budget, Samantha left no stone unturned in ensuring Subham grabbed the spotlight ahead of its theatrical release last Friday. From making a quirky cameo appearance in the film to actively participating in promotional events and interviews, Samantha’s involvement was hands-on and wholehearted.
Her efforts paid off to an extent, as Subham opened to a fairly positive response from fans and general audiences. The film’s humorous storyline and youthful cast brought a refreshing vibe that worked well with viewers. However, this initial buzz didn’t quite reflect in the box office numbers.
So far, Subham has managed to collect approximately ₹5 crore globally in its opening weekend. With the momentum unlikely to pick up significantly in the coming days, a major theatrical turnaround seems doubtful. Yet, Samantha appears to have achieved what she set out to do.
Financially, the project has already turned into a profitable venture. Subham secured a ₹1.5 crore satellite rights deal and is reportedly in advanced negotiations for a ₹3 crore OTT rights deal. So, while the film may not be a box office blockbuster, Samantha’s debut production venture has ended on a high note — making Subham a successful start to her journey as a producer.
