The historical epic Chhaava continued its phenomenal run at the domestic box office, delivering record-breaking numbers on its second Saturday. The Vicky Kaushal starrer amassed a staggering ₹44 crore nett, marking the highest-ever second Saturday collection for any Bollywood film.
However, as trade analysts had predicted, the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan Champions Trophy match impacted the film’s Sunday performance. Chhaava witnessed a slight dip of around 10% from its Saturday earnings, collecting an estimated ₹40 crore nett. Industry experts believe that without the cricket clash, the film could have easily surpassed the ₹50 crore mark on Sunday.
Typically, Bollywood films see a surge in collections on Sundays, but the intense cricket rivalry affected Chhaava’s momentum. Despite this minor setback, the film is expected to recover during the weekdays, especially with the Maha Shivaratri holiday on Wednesday providing an additional boost.
With Sunday’s earnings, Chhaava has officially crossed the ₹300 crore nett milestone at the domestic box office, cementing its position as a blockbuster. If the strong word-of-mouth continues, the film is well on its way to achieving even greater milestones in the coming weeks.
