Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, known for his flawless track record at the box office, is teaming up with Superstar Rajinikanth for the first time in Coolie, a much-anticipated gangster drama set to release on August 14, 2025.
Originally conceived as a Rajini-centric film, Coolie has evolved into a massive multistarrer, featuring big names from across Indian cinema including Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. The high-budget, pan-India project is already generating immense buzz.
In a recent interview, Lokesh shared that Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir had to drop 6–7 other projects to be part of Coolie. “I don’t make films that keep actors locked in for years like RRR. I finish my films in 6–8 months, but I ask for full commitment during that period,” Lokesh said, emphasizing his fast-paced and focused filmmaking style.
Despite the sacrifices, actors are eager to work with Lokesh, knowing the immense reach and recognition his films bring. For talents like Soubin, the exposure from Coolie is expected to open new doors across the country.
