“Kalki 2898 AD,” the highly anticipated Tollywood film, released today to great fanfare. Expectations soared even before its release, as evidenced by the advance bookings across various territories. The film has broken records, surpassing “RRR” in the North American region by grossing a staggering $3.5 million from premieres alone, an all-time record.
“Kalki 2898 AD” now stands above Rajamouli’s “RRR,” which grossed nearly $3.4 million from its premieres. The final premiere gross of “Kalki 2898 AD” is expected to reach around $4 million, an extraordinary achievement without the Rajamouli factor. Unlike “RRR,” which benefited from the star power of NTR and Ram Charan, “Kalki 2898 AD” has garnered a unanimous positive response on its own merit.
The film is expected to gross around 200 crores worldwide, a feat previously achieved only by Rajamouli’s films, “Baahubali” and “RRR.” There are also strong indications that “Kalki 2898 AD” could reach the 1000 crore mark worldwide. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film stars Prabhas in the lead role, with Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles.
