The much-anticipated OG starring Pawan Kalyan is gearing up for its big release, and the pre-release buzz is already through the roof. With one day left before its theatrical premiere, industry insiders believe that the film could recover 50 % of its pre-sold business on opening day itself.
Here’s how the numbers break down: the Andhra Pradesh theatrical rights were sold for ₹100 crore, Telangana rights fetched ₹55 crore, and rights for ROI + ROW were snapped up for ₹25 crore. That takes the total pre-release business figure to ₹180 crore.
To break even, OG needs to recover this ₹180 crore (plus GST) from the Andhra and Nizam regions alone, which implies a worldwide box office gross of around ₹300 crore.
Given the current momentum—strong advance bookings and growing hype—the expectations are high. If OG delivers on Day 1, it might already significantly lower its risk and establish momentum for the days ahead.
