SS Rajamouli, the acclaimed director who has elevated Tollywood and Indian cinema with masterpieces like Eega, Baahubali 1 & 2, and the internationally acclaimed RRR, is once again in the spotlight for a highly anticipated reason.
Rajamouli is among the 487 individuals invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to join their ranks, making him eligible to vote in the 2025 Oscars. Sharing this honor with him is his wife, Rama Rajamouli, who is the costume designer for his films.
Other notable Indian invitees to the Academy include Shabana Azmi, Ritesh Sidhwani, Ravi Varman, Reema Das, Sheetal Sharma, Anand Kumar Tucker, Nisha Pahuja, Hemal Trivedi, and Gitesh Pandya.
Last year, prominent Tollywood figures such as Ram Charan, Jr NTR, MM Keeravaani, Chandrabose, K K Senthil Kumar, and Sabu Cyril were also inducted into AMPAS. This recognition marks another milestone for Indian cinema on the global stage.
