Pushpa 2 Tamil Nadu Box Office: Falls Short of Baahubali 2 and KGF 2

Date:

Pushpa 2’s box office journey in Tamil Nadu is facing stiff comparisons with blockbuster hits like Baahubali 2 and KGF 2. Despite its pan-Indian success, Pushpa 2 has managed to collect Rs. 66.5 crore gross in Tamil Nadu within 12 days and is expected to close at around Rs. 80 crore. While this figure is commendable, it significantly trails behind Baahubali 2 and KGF 2’s numbers.

Baahubali 2 stands tall as the all-time highest grosser in Tamil Nadu, raking in Rs. 150 crore gross. Meanwhile, KGF 2, despite facing competition from Vijay’s Beast and having fewer screens, still managed to secure over Rs. 110 crore gross in the state.

One notable achievement for Pushpa 2 is its ability to claim a non-RRR record as the only film apart from Rajamouli’s movies to cross the Rs. 50 crore gross mark in Tamil Nadu. This milestone highlights its strong hold on the Tamil audience despite intense competition.

Pushpa 2’s pre-release business was valued on par with KGF 2’s collections, but it appears the film will end up collecting only 75% of KGF 2’s total revenue. As a result, it’s projected to conclude its run as an average performer in Tamil Nadu’s box office landscape.

With its strong run across India, Pushpa 2 remains a major success story. However, its Tamil Nadu performance underscores the challenges of living up to the benchmark set by films like Baahubali 2 and KGF 2.
