Despite the massive expectations surrounding Pushpa 2: The Rule, the Telugu version of the film is struggling to meet box office targets in the U.S. While the overall performance remains strong thanks to the Hindi version, the Telugu release is underperforming compared to initial predictions.
The film had a promising start, but it failed to surpass the opening of Kalki, and its numbers for the weekend stood at $6.23M. However, the film saw a significant dip on Monday, earning only $100K, indicating that it will likely fall short of the $10M range. Current trends suggest that the Telugu version may max out around $8M. In contrast, Kalki—which also had a strong Telugu release—collected closer to $13M in its opening.
The Hindi version, however, is proving to be a major contributor to the overall success. With a combined gross of nearly $10M across all versions in North America, Pushpa 2 is likely to break even, with a target of $5M. The Hindi version will play a crucial role in keeping the momentum going as the film progresses in its theatrical run.
