Raayan, starring Dhanush, has achieved remarkable success at the box office. The film had an impressive first weekend, grossing nearly 70 crores worldwide. It continued to perform strongly in both the second and third weekends, and is on track to surpass the 150 crores gross mark, setting a new record for Dhanush.
In Tamil Nadu, Raayan has earned approximately 75 crores, while it has grossed 25 crores from Telugu States and other regions of India. Internationally, the film has collected $5 million, making it the first Tier 2 Kollywood film to reach 150 crores gross worldwide. The film’s performance was unexpected, given that the trailer and songs initially received mixed reactions. However, the film’s action sequences and the soundtrack composed by A.R. Rahman played a crucial role in its success, helping it trend for several days.
Raayan holds special significance for Dhanush as he not only starred in the film but also directed it. He aims to leverage this success for his upcoming project, Kubera, which co-stars Nagarjuna and is directed by Sekhar Kammula. Kubera is currently in production. Additionally, Dhanush is working on the biopic of Ilaiyaraaja.
