The 97th Academy Awards brought a historic moment for Brazil, as the country secured its first-ever Oscar in the Best International Feature Film category for Ainda Estou Aqui (I’m Still Here). Among those celebrating this milestone was India’s ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who expressed his joy and admiration for the achievement.
Taking to Instagram, Rajamouli congratulated I’m Still Here director Walter Salles, the renowned filmmaker behind The Motorcycle Diaries (2004). He acknowledged Salles’ influence on his blockbuster RRR and wrote, “A heartfelt salute to one of my favorites, Walter Salles, for bringing Brazil its first-ever Academy Award with Ainda Estou Aqui. #ImStillHere!”
Rajamouli also applauded lead actress Fernanda Torres for her stellar performance and praised filmmaker Sean Baker, who made history by winning four Oscars in a single night.
On the professional front, Rajamouli is gearing up for the next schedule of his highly anticipated globe-trotting jungle adventure, SSMB29, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. The filming is set to take place in Koraput, Odisha.
