Ram Gopal Varma’s political satire, Vyooham, stirred up a major controversy before its release. The film, which takes a sharp jab at Andhra Pradesh politicians, faced legal hurdles, with the High Court even putting a hold on its release due to multiple lawsuits. Despite the delays, Vyooham eventually made it to theaters, only to bomb at the box office. However, the film’s journey took an unexpected turn when it was sold to AP Fibernet at a record price.
Recent reports reveal that AP Fibernet paid a staggering ₹11,000 for every view of Vyooham. With 1,863 views, the film reportedly earned ₹2.15 crores on the platform. This revelation has gone viral on social media, raising eyebrows over the deal. AP Fibernet, a government-backed organization providing broadband and landline services to homes, was involved in this arrangement.
The current chairman of AP Fibernet has acknowledged the incident within the organization, and all eyes are now on the Andhra Pradesh Government’s next steps. Meanwhile, Ram Gopal Varma has yet to comment on the matter. The director, known for his controversial political satires, has long been at odds with the state government led by Chandrababu Naidu. Despite the controversy, Varma has managed to secure anticipatory bail, preventing any immediate arrest. It remains to be seen how the government will respond to this latest issue.
