In anticipation of its theatrical release, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama will have a special screening at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. This iconic Indo-Japanese anime, based on Valmiki’s Ramayana, will be showcased in its newly remastered 4K version.
The screening is set to take place at Divya Prem Seva Shivir, Sector 6 near Netra Kumbh, starting at 10 am on Wednesday, welcoming school children and devotees for this unique cinematic experience.
Scheduled for a nationwide theatrical release on January 24, 2025, Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama will be available in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Directed by Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, the film is a remarkable Indo-Japanese collaboration involving over 450 artists and nearly 100,000 hand-drawn cells.
Originally released at the International Film Festival of India in 1993 and later broadcast on Cartoon Network, this film has left a lasting impression. Renowned filmmaker Shri V Vijayendra Prasad, associated with the project, expressed his excitement, stating, “This timeless story of dharma, courage, and love transcends cultures and continues to inspire. Bringing this iconic film back to life for a new generation is an honor.”
Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama will be distributed by Geek Pictures India, AA Films, and Excel Entertainment across India.
