Netflix India’s ambitious web series Rakt Brahmand – The Bloody Kingdom has run into major financial and creative challenges. Produced by D2R Films, the show is now under scrutiny due to allegations of financial mismanagement, with the executive producer accused of embezzling nearly ₹2-3 crore during production.
Despite filming for just 26 days since September 2024, almost half of the allocated budget has already been spent, raising serious concerns about fund allocation. In response, Netflix and D2R Films have launched an internal investigation to assess financial dealings, including transactions with third-party vendors. While specific details remain undisclosed, the ongoing probe has cast a shadow over the series’ future.
Financial Mismanagement and Production Issues
Reports suggest that the producer granted the executive producer unchecked authority to sign cheques and withdraw funds without proper oversight. Allegedly, this individual has a history of financial misconduct on previous projects. These irregularities have significantly disrupted the production process.
Additionally, the series is grappling with creative hurdles. The director, Tumbbad fame Rahi Anil Barve, and the writers have been making on-the-spot script revisions, leading to delays and conflicts. Netflix, which provided substantial creative freedom, is reportedly displeased with the lack of a finalized script, causing further setbacks.
Star-Studded Cast Caught in the Chaos
Announced in July 2024, Rakt Brahmand – The Bloody Kingdom boasts an impressive ensemble, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Ali Fazal, and Wamiqa Gabbi in lead roles. However, with production at a standstill due to both financial discrepancies and creative disputes, the future of the show remains uncertain.
With Netflix and D2R Films working to resolve these issues, it remains to be seen whether Rakt Brahmand can recover and proceed as planned.
