Sankranthiki Vastunnam Set to Dominate the Republic Day Weekend Box Office

Date:

The Republic Day holiday, which fell on a Sunday, saw no major new movie releases this weekend. Among the few releases, Sukumar’s daughter Sukriti made her debut as the lead in Gandhi Tatha Chettu, a film backed by Mythri Movie Makers that hit screens on Friday. Another Telugu release, Hathya, also failed to captivate audiences.

In contrast, the Sankranthi blockbuster Sankranthiki Vastunnam continued its triumphant run, witnessing significant growth across theatres on Saturday and Sunday. The film, which appeals strongly to family audiences, saw packed houses during its second weekend, overshadowing all other releases over the Republic Day holiday.

The movie, directed by Anil Ravipudi and starring Venkatesh, Aishwarya Rajesh, and Meenakshi Chaudhary, dominated theatres in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with “housefull” boards displayed across major centres. Meanwhile, other Sankranthi releases like Game Changer and Daaku Maharaaj failed to make an impression. Game Changer is nearing the end of its theatrical run, while Daaku Maharaaj is struggling with minimal footfalls.

Sankranthiki Vastunnam remains strong at the box office and is expected to continue its impressive performance for the next two weeks, cementing its position as the Republic Day weekend favorite.
