The much-anticipated film Kingdom, starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, has officially been postponed to July 4, 2025. Originally slated for a May 30 release, the change was announced recently, with the makers thanking Dil Raju and Nithiin for their cooperation. This gesture has sparked speculation that Nithiin’s upcoming film Thammudu—which had previously locked July 4—will now hit theatres on July 24, 2025.
Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara May Be Delayed
Interestingly, Thammudu now appears to have claimed the July 24 slot, which was initially reported to be the release date for Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara. However, industry sources suggest that Vishwambhara might be postponed due to ongoing VFX delays, making room for Thammudu to move in.
The decision seems to have been a collaborative one. Production houses Sitara Entertainments and Dil Raju’s SVC banner share a strong working relationship, and it’s likely that Dil Raju agreed to delay Thammudu in coordination with Sitara’s request to accommodate Kingdom‘s new date.
A Strategic Move for Kingdom
With multiple major releases like Thug Life, Hari Hara Veeramallu, Kubera, Kannappa, and Sitaare Zameen Par lined up for June, the team behind Kingdom saw July 4 as a more strategic release window. The film, which tackles the sensitive subject of Sri Lankan war refugees, presents a fresh backdrop for Telugu cinema. The additional time will allow the team to focus on post-production and background score, with Anirudh Ravichander handling the music.
The makers are now optimistic that this new date will provide Kingdom the space it needs to make a strong impact at the box office.
Thammudu Gears Up for Promotions
Directed by Sriram Venu, Thammudu features Nithiin in a never-before-seen avatar—playing an archer. The film also stars Saptami Gowda, Laya, Varsha Bollama, and Swasika in key roles. With the likely shift to July 24, the team is expected to ramp up promotional activities to maximize visibility and excitement around the film.
