Vijay’s GOAT continues its impressive box office run in Tamil Nadu, achieving milestone after milestone. The action thriller has now crossed the Rs. 450 crore mark globally, with a Tamil Nadu gross of over Rs. 210 crore and an overseas total of around Rs. 155 crore.
These two regions remain the film’s best-performing markets, but GOAT still needs to collect an additional Rs. 15 crore in Tamil Nadu to secure the all-time number one spot. The coming weekend will be crucial for the film’s prospects. If GOAT can sustain another week in theaters, it may clinch the top position, especially with the Gandhi Jayanti holiday providing a boost next week.
However, GOAT faces stiff competition this week from Karthi’s Meiyazhagan (Sathyam Sundaram) and Jr. NTR’s Devara. While Karthi’s film has garnered positive reviews, its booking numbers are modest, possibly due to its genre. For Devara, word-of-mouth will be key in drawing Tamil audiences to the cinemas.
GOAT is projected to end its global run at around Rs. 470 crore, an outstanding figure. However, poor performance in the Telugu states and Kerala has prevented it from reaching the Rs. 500 crore milestone.
