Mohanlal’s latest film Thudarum is enjoying a phenomenal run at the box office, far exceeding initial expectations. Released this April with minimal pre-release buzz, the film has turned out to be a surprise blockbuster, winning hearts and smashing records along the way. As of now, Thudarum has crossed the ₹225 crore mark at the global box office.
The legendary actor’s previous outing, L2: Empuraan, was one of the most anticipated films in Malayalam cinema history and delivered a massive box office performance. However, the fact that Thudarum—a family drama/thriller—has managed to achieve similar success has taken fans and industry insiders by surprise.
In just 26 days, the film has grossed ₹112.5 crore in Kerala alone, maintaining a streak of earning ₹1 crore+ every single day. Overseas markets have also contributed significantly, with Thudarum raking in $10.9 million, pushing the total worldwide gross to ₹225 crore.
Now, the film has set its sights on surpassing the lifetime collections of Manjummel Boys, which stands at ₹242 crore globally. If this momentum continues, Thudarum could soon become the second highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time.
