Viduthalai 2, which hit theaters during the Christmas weekend, started strong but struggled to maintain momentum. The Telugu version of the movie fared even worse, turning out to be an outright disaster with negligible box office numbers.
The extended version of Viduthalai 2 is now set to make its OTT debut on Zee5 on January 17th. It remains to be seen how the film will perform on the streaming platform, as it looks to recover some of its losses. The underwhelming performance has been a setback for acclaimed director Vetrimaaran, who dedicated over a year to crafting the sequel.
Vetrimaaran is now shifting his focus to his next ambitious project, Vaadivaasal, starring Suriya. The film, rumored to be a three-part series, is expected to go on floors this summer. Suriya, who is currently juggling Retro and Suriya 45, will join the shoot for Vaadivaasal once his ongoing commitments wrap up. Despite earlier delays, Vaadivaasal remains one of the most eagerly awaited collaborations in Tamil cinema.
