Kollywood star Vijay Sethupathi is basking in the glory of Maharaja’s phenomenal success. The 2023 blockbuster not only became his highest-grossing solo film, earning nearly ₹200 crore worldwide, but also made waves in China, where it amassed an impressive ₹100 crore, surprising industry insiders.
Before Maharaja, the actor faced a string of setbacks, but the film’s triumph has completely transformed his career trajectory. With newfound confidence, he is now focused solely on lead roles, turning down significant supporting character offers that he previously embraced.
Looking ahead, Vijay Sethupathi is set to star in Muthu Engira Kattan, an upcoming rural action drama web series for Jio Hotstar. Bollywood veteran Jackie Shroff will also play a key role in the project. Initially helmed by director Manikandan, who even shot a few episodes, the series is now seeking a new director, with Arumuga Kumar being considered for the role.
