Theatre owners on Wednesday came up with a proposal. It should be followed by the producers
. A system of revenue-sharing based on ticket sales which could help single screens survive is
proposed. They said the present system was heavily loaded in favour of producers who get to
take profit margins but the theatre owner has to bear losses if there is no audience.
The films up to RS 30 cr budget, in the first week the revenue sharing would be 60:40 in the first
week.In the second week,50:50 and 40:60 in the third week. For a film of Rs 10 cr budget, the
revenue sharing would be: 50:50 in the first week, 50:40 in the second week and 50:30 in the
third week.
Bala Govind Raju who is the association’s secretary said that in the rental system that was
being followed, the theatre owners were suffering losses.
