As the much-awaited festival of Akshaya Tritiya approaches, anticipation fills the air. Celebrated with fervor and grandeur across the nation, this auspicious occasion holds immense significance in the Hindu community, also known as Akha Teej. ‘Akshaya’ signifies eternal prosperity, making it the perfect time for purchasing gold, silver, and other precious metals. It’s believed that acquisitions made on this day possess enduring value. Additionally, acts of charity towards the less fortunate and the initiation of auspicious endeavors like business ventures or property investments are considered highly propitious.

Year after year, Akshaya Tritiya is observed with unwavering devotion and commitment. Falling on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the Hindu month of Vaishakha, this year, according to Drik Panchang, Akshaya Tritiya is slated for May 10. The Tritiya Tithi will commence at 4:17 AM on May 10 and conclude at 2:50 AM on May 11.

Akshaya Tritiya commemorates the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Devotees begin the day with a purifying bath and don yellow attire, symbolizing auspiciousness in Hinduism. Offerings and prayers are made to Lord Vishnu’s idol, accompanied by the recitation of Vishnu Sahasranama and Vishnu Chalisa.

Legend has it that on Akshaya Tritiya, Lord Kuber was bestowed with divine blessings from Lord Shiva and Lord Brahma, acquiring the kingdom of Alkapuri. Hence, people purchase gold ornaments and properties in homage to Lord Kuber, deeming it a sacred day of abundance and prosperity.
