It’s no secret that Megastar Chiranjeevi’s upcoming fantasy drama Vishwambhara, directed by Mallidi Vassishta, has been facing multiple delays in finalizing its release date. After missing a few previously considered windows, the film now appears to be eyeing the August 1st release slot, originally reserved for Teja Sajja’s Mirai.
Mirai, directed by Karthik Gattamaneni, was first slated for an April release, but was later pushed to August 1st due to post-production delays. Now, fresh industry buzz suggests that Mirai might face another postponement, as key work remains unfinished.
Amidst these speculations, the makers of Mirai have released a statement confirming the commencement of a new shooting schedule, which is currently underway in the historic caves of Mumbai, featuring the principal cast. The update also noted that Mirai will be released in 8 languages in both 2D and 3D, cementing its status as a pan-India project. However, notably, the statement did not confirm a release date, fueling further speculation about another delay.
With this gap potentially opening up, insiders now believe that Vishwambhara could take over the August 1st release date, positioning itself as a solo big release. Given that major films like Hari Hara Veera Mallu (June 12), Kingdom (July 4), and War 2 (August 14) are scheduled on either side of this date, it gives Vishwambhara a prime window to capitalize on.
That said, one major hurdle still remains—the OTT deal. If the team behind Vishwambhara manages to secure a solid streaming partnership soon, the August 1st release could be locked in, giving fans a clear date to look forward to.
All eyes are now on the makers to make the official announcement.
