Emergency Box Office Collection Day 4: Kangana Ranaut’s Film Faces Sharp Decline, Struggles to Recover

Kangana Ranaut’s historical biographical drama Emergency has faced a significant setback at the box office, struggling with a sharp decline on its crucial first Monday. After showing some initial signs of improvement, the film’s performance fell drastically, failing to pass the essential Monday test. With several major releases on the horizon, including Sky Force starring Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya, the chances of a strong resurgence for Emergency seem slim.

On its fourth day, Emergency recorded an India nett collection of just Rs 1.04 crore, marking a drastic 75.53% drop from its Sunday earnings of Rs 4.25 crore, as per early estimates from Sacnilk. This brings the film’s total domestic nett earnings to Rs 11.39 crore. The film also saw a meager overall occupancy rate of only 7.11% in the Hindi market, with morning shows starting at a dismal 4.37%, and only minimal increases during afternoon and evening screenings (6.81% and 8.32%, respectively).

Despite a better first Monday collection compared to some of Kangana’s recent box office flops like Thalaivii (Rs 73 lakh), Dhaakad (Rs 30 lakh), and Tejas (Rs 45 lakh), Emergency still lags behind other underperforming films like Judgementall Hai Kya (Rs 2.3 crore), Panga (Rs 1.65 crore), and Chandramukhi 2 (Rs 5.35 crore). With a reported budget of Rs 60 crore and earnings of just over Rs 11 crore after four days, the film is on track to meet the same fate as some of her recent releases, unable to even reach its break-even point.

Interestingly, Emergency’s performance has also been trailing behind that of Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt, a film Kangana had indirectly criticized for underperforming in October 2024. Despite Jigra‘s own struggles, the numbers are significantly higher than Emergency‘s. While Jigra opened with Rs 4.55 crore and grossed Rs 6.55 crore, Rs 5.5 crore, and Rs 1.65 crore over its first weekend and Monday, Emergency’s figures stand at Rs 3.6 crore, Rs 4.25 crore, and Rs 1.04 crore during the same period.

Interestingly, Divya Khossla, a filmmaker who previously criticized Jigra‘s box office performance, also expressed her support for Kangana’s Emergency, acknowledging the hard work behind making the film, despite its current box office struggles.
