Pushpa 2: Kerala Opening Day Record Slips Out of Reach

Kerala has always been a cherished market for Allu Arjun, often referred to as “Mallu Arjun” due to his immense fan base in the state. Even before the release of Pushpa, Kerala audiences showed unwavering love for the star, with Allu Arjun himself frequently acknowledging his special bond with them, calling himself an adopted son of Malayalam cinema lovers.

At a recent pre-release event in Kerala, the film’s distributor confidently expressed hopes of surpassing the opening day record of Leo (₹12 Cr gross). Given Allu Arjun’s stardom and the massive anticipation for Pushpa 2: The Rule, many believed breaking this record was achievable.

However, with advance bookings now open, it appears unlikely for Pushpa 2 to reach or exceed Leo’s benchmark. Current trends suggest that even a double-digit opening may be out of reach. Instead, the focus has shifted to securing Kerala’s second-highest opening day record, currently held by KGF 2 at ₹7.25 Cr gross—a target that seems attainable.

While Pushpa 2 may not claim the top spot, the film is still expected to make a strong impact at the Kerala box office and maintain Allu Arjun’s dominance in the region.
