Retro, starring Suriya and Pooja Hegde, might not be living up to the massive pre-release expectations, but it’s still achieving notable milestones at the global box office. After securing the second-biggest opening of Suriya’s career, the romantic action thriller has crossed the ₹90 crore gross mark in just 11 days. However, the much-anticipated ₹100 crore milestone is proving to be a slow climb.
Retro Crosses ₹90 Crore in 11 Days!
Despite a lukewarm second weekend, Retro added around ₹4.48 crore to its total, pushing its 11-day India net collection to ₹57.43 crore, according to Sacnilk. When taxes are included, the gross collection in India stands at ₹67.76 crore.
In overseas markets, the film has grossed an estimated ₹24.15 crore, taking the worldwide total to ₹91.91 crore. While it was expected to cross ₹100 crore by now, mixed word-of-mouth and average weekend footfalls have slightly slowed down the film’s momentum.

Retro Becomes Suriya’s 6th Highest-Grossing Film
Even with the struggle to hit ₹100 crore, Retro has managed to overtake the lifetime worldwide collections of Singam (₹90 crore) and Thaanaa Serndha Koottam (₹90.20 crore), now standing as Suriya’s 6th highest-grosser of all time.
Suriya’s Top Grossing Films Worldwide:
- Singam 2 – ₹122.80 crore
- 24 – ₹108.90 crore
- Kanguva – ₹107.20 crore
