Sai Pallavi Shares She ‘Always Wanted’ a National Award to Wear Saree Gifted by Her Grandmother

Date:

Last year, many fans hoped Sai Pallavi would win a National Award for her performance in Gargi, but it was Nithya Menen who took home the honor for Thiruchitrambalam. In a candid interview with Galatta Plus, Sai shared a heartfelt reason behind her desire for the award. She revealed that her longing to win the prestigious National Award was linked to a personal memory. At the age of 21, her grandmother, who was unwell and recovering from surgery, gave her a saree and told her to wear it on her wedding day. At that time, Sai had not even started her film career yet. As she grew older, and with Premam behind her, she began to dream of winning a significant award, with the National Award being her ultimate goal.

For Sai, the National Award holds special significance as it is connected to that saree from her grandmother. She emphasized that while winning the award was important to her, it was the emotional connection with the audience that truly mattered. She said, “If people can feel what my character feels on-screen, that’s my job, and that’s enough. Anything beyond that is just a bonus.” Despite missing out on the award, the actor’s perspective shows how much she values her craft over external recognition.

Following Gargi, Sai continued to make an impact with her work in Tamil and Telugu cinema. She starred in Amaran as an army man’s wife alongside Sivakarthikeyan, and in Thandel, where she portrayed an estranged lover of a fisherman. Her upcoming projects include a debut in Hindi alongside Junaid Khan and a film titled Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor.
