Suriya Turns Down Lord Shiva Role in Kannappa

In a recent interview, Manchu Vishnu revealed that Akshay Kumar initially turned down the role of Lord Shiva in his upcoming film Kannappa. Following this, the makers approached a Tamil actor who was reportedly set to take on the role. However, the actor declined, citing his involvement in a historical role for an upcoming film and his reluctance to take on a similar character. While the actor’s name was not disclosed, many netizens speculate that it might be Suriya, considering his close ties with Mohan Babu, who made a cameo appearance in Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru.

Despite the initial setbacks, Vishnu shared that the team eventually succeeded in convincing Akshay Kumar to join the project. Kannappa is a high-budget film with a star-studded cast from across the Indian film industry. Set to release on April 25th worldwide, the movie is produced by Mohan Babu under his 24 Frames Factory banner, with Vishnu playing the titular role of Kannappa, a devoted follower of Lord Shiva.
